Bodegas Tarón and the Denominación de Origen de Vinos La Palma celebrate their partnership13 February, 2023
Christmas is a time to be surrounded by our nearest and dearest. Celebrations with the family, get-togethers with friends, lunches and dinners with work colleagues… For this reason, and to help you select the wine for these special occasions, we wanted to review the wines that have obtained the best scores in international competitions, specialised magazines and the most prestigious guides.
During this year 2022, the medal list and the awards for the wines of our winery have continued unstoppable. These are some of the best rated wines:
Pantocrátor 2011 received a Gold Bacchus Medal at the XX Bacchus International Wine Competition, the largest international competition held in Spain, to which 1,747 references from 17 countries were submitted.
Bodegas Tarón’s medal tally continued to grow with two Silver medals at the International Wine & Spirit Competition (IWSC), one of the most prestigious competitions in the world, where Pantocrátor 2011 scored 93 points and Tarón Reserva 2015, 91 points. We also won two silver medals at the Decanter Awards. Here, Pantocrátor 2011 and Tarón Tempranillo Blanco 2020 obtained 93 and 91 points respectively, an honour given the important consideration of this contest.
On the other hand, famed wine critic Tim Atkin awarded excellent scores to our wines in his Rioja Report 2022. Specifically, 91 points for Pantocrátor 2010 and Tarón Cepas Centenarias 2016; 90 points for Tarón Reserva 2015 and 89 points for Tarón Crianza 2017. Finally, Wine Enthusiast magazine also gave us fabulous news by awarding us great scores: 92 points for Tarón Cepas Centenarias 2016 and for Tarón Reserva 2015, and 91 points for Tarón Crianza 2017.
Special mention should be made of our new wine Patiens 2016, a single varietal Viura that is now available in our online shop in very, very limited quantities: just 1,300 bottles. Patiens comes from our old Viura vines, planted in dry soil under the harsh climate of the Obarenes. Small plots between 50 and 90 years old and between 550 and 600 metres high, located in the winery’s surroundings. Patiens 2016, in its double meaning of patient and suffering, perfectly defines this new wine with which we hope to achieve great recognition. The first has just arrived: 92 points in the Peñín Guide 2023.
From Bodegas Tarón we would like to wish you a very merry Christmas, a prosperous year 2023 and that, whatever wine you choose, you toast it with your loved ones.
