04/08/2022When a company celebrates its 200th anniversary in good health, it is synonymous with good management, reputation and growth. This is the case of our British importer-distributor Ellis Wines, which celebrated its two centuries of presence in the market on 29 June. Bodegas Tarón, which has been represented by this firm for more than 6 years, attended the event as a guest.
The event took place at the iconic Royal Opera House in London, a unique and magical setting for an event that brought together around 70 wineries, suppliers of Ellis Wines from the five continents, with another 600 guests, mainly from the British catering channel. Bodegas Tarón was represented by its manager, Gonzalo Salazar de Gurendes, and its Export Director, Alberto Galilea.
For the latter, this event was “a magnificent opportunity for Ellis Wines’ end customers to taste a good part of our wines, and for them to get to know our excellent location in Rioja Alta and the value of this land”.
“Word spread that there were some very interesting things on our stand and we were there for six hours, from eleven in the morning until five in the afternoon, receiving visitors all the time. It was an intense day of tasting and explaining who we are, and we can make a very positive and surprising balance”, he points out.
As an aspect to highlight, many visitors agreed on the excellent quality/price of our range of wines, with some of them standing out, such as Pantocrátor or Tarón Reserva”, adds Alberto Galilea.
A little piece of La Rioja for James Ellis
Bodegas Tarón wanted to make a special gesture to the Ellis family by presenting them with a commemorative sculpture of the 200th anniversary, which was made by the Rioja artist Taquio Uzqueda.
It was the manager of our winery, Gonzalo Salazar de Gurendes, who gave it personally to the current director, James Ellis, who was very grateful for the gesture and expressed his confidence in continuing to work together.
For Bodegas Tarón, the British market is currently one of the priorities within its export strategy. For this reason, being part of the prestigious family of wineries represented by Ellis Wines and participating in an event of this importance, increases the hopes of consolidating and growing with the best local strategic partner specialised in the Horeca channel.
