Tim Atkin, the renowned British Master of Wine, journalist and prescriptor, has chosen Bodegas Tarón as the Cooperative of the Year. This is reflected in his Rioja Special Report 2023, the annual monograph on the Rioja Qualified Designation of Origin, which was presented during Barcelona Wine Week.

We are immensely happy that such a renowned international professional as Tim Atkin has set his sights on our winery and has chosen it as Cooperative of the Year. We are proud and great news for the more than 200 members and families of Cuzcurrita de Río Tarón, Tirgo, Sajazarra and Villaseca who make up this cooperative.

This election also invites us to persevere in our project, to make the Tarón Territory known through its wines. This is what we convey to our members: we have to do our best in the field so that this effort is reflected in the wines. We must not take a single step backwards and increasingly focus on top-of-the-range wines.

As we were able to see at the Barcelona fair, Rioja continues to be the Spanish benchmark at international level and one of the best-known appellations in the world. For this reason, to receive any award belonging to it is a titanic effort, as it is a matter of competing with some of the best wineries and vineyards in the world.

We are still on the right track.
