<\/p>\n“The 2023 vintage has been accompanied by extreme heat that has accelerated the harvest and caused imbalances in the grapes, so we are going to have a lot of work to do in the winery. However, the very good health of the grapes will facilitate our work”. This is how our winemaker, Laura Manzanos, sums up the development of this 2023 vintage, marked by extremely high temperatures in the middle of October.<\/p>\n

After a very similar summer to last year, very dry and with little rain, September surprised us with several storms that put us on alert. As Laura recalls, “we looked at the sky with nervousness, as it had already rained too much for much of the Denomination by that time”. Fortunately, those episodes did not leave more than 25 litres in the whole Tar\u00f3n Territory, and that water was very beneficial for the grapes to continue ripening and for the vines to have some respite after the hot, dry summer.<\/p>\n
These days of rain were followed by dry, warm weather that favoured good health, with no sign of the dreaded grey rot in our vineyards.<\/p>\n

However, it was decided to start the harvest on Tuesday 26 September, picking vines from areas affected by the frosts and hailstorms that took place in spring and early summer. According to Manzanos, the harvest continued with the whites, which are looking very good. “Without a doubt, it’s going to be a year of whites”.<\/p>\n
The very high temperatures in October did not give any respite and continued to press on the vineyards, so we had to speed up and pick all the grapes in just 8 days so that they would not lose quantity.<\/p>\n
