Pantocr\u00e1tor 2011, the most exceptional wine of Bodegas Tar\u00f3n (DOCa Rioja), has been awarded a Grand Gold medal at the fourth edition of the Casino de Madrid Wine Competition. This is the highest award given in this competition, which is attended by some of the best wines and wineries from all over the country, thus showing the variety and richness of the world of wine in Spain.<\/p>\n
The winning wines were chosen by means of a blind tasting over two days. The jury was made up of relevant personalities from the sector: technicians, opinion leaders, communicators, distributors, purchasing managers from large and small clients, sommeliers and informed consumers, most of them participants as jurors in major national and international competitions.<\/p>\n
This Grand Gold medal is added to other awards won in recent months, such as the Gold Bacchus medal at the 20th Bacchus International Wine Competition. It also won a Silver medal at the Decanter World Wine Awards (DWWA), with 93 points, and another Silver medal at the International Wine & Spirit Competition (IWSC), with 93 points. In addition, the critic James Suckling has awarded it 94 points.<\/p>\n
With only two weeks on the market, Pantocr\u00e1tor 2011 is a limited edition wine that is only produced in excellent vintages. As the winery’s winemaker, Laura Manzanos, explains: “the 2011 vintage was the best in the last 16 years at Territorio Tar\u00f3n. It was a hot year and one of the driest of the decade, leaving the vineyard with low yields and fair vegetation.
