The 2022 harvest has definitely been confirmed as the earliest in the history of Bodegas Tar\u00f3n and as a sign of what will clearly be the general trend in the harvests of the coming years. The very high temperatures and low rainfall have been the determining factors that, this year more than ever, have convinced us of how grateful the vineyards are and how little they need to be cultivated.<\/p>\n
As our oenologist, Laura Manzanos, recalls, thanks to the water reserves that the soil accumulated in November and March, the vines sprouted well. Then, from the end of spring until almost September, the heat was intense and rain was conspicuous by its absence, causing great heterogeneity in the vineyard.<\/p>\n
In September, only a few litres of rain fell, which in many cases served to give the vines a boost so that they could gain strength for the last stretch of ripening.<\/p>\n
Paradoxically, this year’s extreme weather has favoured us: “As we are located in one of the coolest areas of the D.O.Rioja, more to the northwest and with vineyards between 500 and 650, the vines have arrived with enough leaf to finish their ripening cycle”.<\/p>\n
“This year, we have practised a much more selected, selective and much longer harvest. We have sampled the vineyards daily to wait for them to reach optimum ripeness”, the oenologist recalls.<\/p>\n
In short, a year of moderate production, but with extraordinary bunch health, brought to excellence and which will undoubtedly show its great results in a few months.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
