Bodegas Tarón, winner of the Countryside Awards 2024

Bodegas Tarón has been honoured at the Premios del Campo, an award that recognises companies, institutions and individuals who contribute to the agricultural development of La Rioja. Bodegas Tarón has been chosen in the Cooperative/Company category for its social commitment in Rioja Alta, both for the quality of its wines and for its participation in regional initiatives.

The jury, made up of Estrella Domínguez and Toño del Río, marketing director and opinion editor of Diario La Rioja; David Navarro, head of AgroBank in the Ebro Territorial Division of CaixaBank, and José Miguel Peña, lecturer in the Department of Agriculture and Food at the University of La Rioja, stressed that Bodegas Tarón is a cooperative that ‘stands out for its social commitment to the environment, which leads it, among other things, to participate in many initiatives in its region and also to support pelota, as an expression of a local sport with strong roots in the rural world of La Rioja’.

It should be noted that Bodegas Tarón is the first winery to receive this award for eight editions now. A source of pride for the more than 200 families that make up this cooperative which celebrated its 60th anniversary last August.

This award as the best cooperative is also in addition to the one awarded in 2023 by Tim Atkin, the renowned British Master of Wine, journalist and prescriptor, who chose Bodegas Tarón as the Cooperative of the Year. An election that encouraged us, even more if possible, to persevere in our project, which is to make the Tarón Territory known through its wines.

Countryside Awards 2024

This award, organised by Diario LA RIOJA and CaixaBank with the support of the University of La Rioja and the sponsorship of the Government of La Rioja, has also valued the merits of five other award winners: Víctor Justa Zorzano as Young Farmer, Isabel Ochoa Ruiz as Woman Entrepreneur, the Rioja cauliflower as Best Foodstuff, and Ana Belén Fernández as Professional Farmer, in addition to the Best Company/Cooperative for Bodegas Tarón.

The awards gala will take place on 20 November in the Aula Magna of the University of La Rioja.
